Seven devotees died in a stampede at Siddheshwar Nath Temple (Stampede in Siddheshwar Nath Temple) located in Makhdumpur in Jehanabad district of Bihar (Jehanabad stampede), while more than 30 were injured.

A huge crowd of devotees had gathered for Jalabhishek on the fourth Monday (Shravani mela stampede), during which this incident (Stampede Baba Sideshwar Nath) took place.

An eyewitness present at the spot said that there was a huge crowd at the time of the incident. We were all standing in line. Meanwhile, a Kanwadiya got into a fight with a shopkeeper selling flowers and garlands over something.

Soon both of them started hitting each other with sticks, due to which the devotees standing in the line started running back and people started falling on each other. The people who fell did not get a chance to get up, due to which many people died and many people were injured.

The eyewitness said that the incident took place near the flower shop located at the top of the temple premises. This incident happened because of the shopkeeper and the Kanwaria using sticks.

The eyewitness said that he was also caught under the crowd in the stampede, but somehow saved himself with the help of his friends. I have also been injured. He claimed that about 50 to 60 people were injured in this accident.

Allegation of negligence on the administration

The eyewitness has accused the police administration of negligence. He said that a large number of policemen were present outside the temple premises, but no one was present at the spot.

He said that if the police had been present at the spot, then there would not have been a fight between the Kanwaria and the shopkeeper and if there was no fight, then such an incident would not have happened.
