Bengaluru, March 5 (IANS) Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal was on Thursday admitted to a private hospital on the city's outskirts for naturopathy treatment to cure his chronic cough.

"We will do a health check-up and conduct a few tests for prescribing our treatment which is based on naturoapathy," Jindal Naturecure Institute chief medical officer Babina Nandakumar told reporters.

On arrival from New Delhi on an Air India flight with his parents Gobind Ram and Gita Devi, 46-year-old Kejriwal was greeted and cheered by hundreds of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) volunteers and supporters at the airport.

Declining an official vehicle arranged by the Karnataka government, Kejriwal drove to the institute on the National Highway (NH-4) in the city's northwest suburb in the vehicle of the party's state unit convener Prithvi Reddy.

Though Kejriwal also declined Z-plus security, city police escorted the vehicle in which he travelled to the institute from the airport, 40 km away.

"Kejriwal's office has communicated to us that he would be in our campus for 10 days to get over coughing frequently due to allergy and some symptoms we have to examine and treat," Nandakumar said.

The institute has booked a four-bedroom cottage for Kejriwal and his parents with all facilities.

Police have deployed additional personnel in and around the institute to provide adequate security to Kejriwal and regulate movement of people and vehicles.

Kejriwal also declined to speak to the waiting media personnel, including a large number of reporters from local and national news channels at the airport and near the institute.
