Rakesh Tikait, the national spokesperson of the Bharatiya Kisan Union, has once again threatened the central government with a farmer movement. This time he said that a bigger farmer movement can come up in the country and that too in a very short time. You must be wondering why farmers are talking like this again after the agitation is over. Dhanvat, who submitted the report on the farmer's movement to the Supreme Court, has made his report public, on which Rakesh Tikait has issued his statement.
What did Rakesh Tikait say?
Farmer leader Rakesh Tikait has said in his latest statement that Ghanvat made public the report submitted to the Supreme Court in support of three agricultural laws and proved that he was a puppet of the central government. Under the guise of this, if the Center intends to bring these bills again, then it will not take long for a bigger farmer movement to arise in the country. The matter of ending this movement had reached the court. Although the court had appealed to the farmers to clear the way, the farmers did not move.
Why is the discussion of the farmers' movement happening today?
While some organizations sat on dharna for a year by sieging Delhi against the three agricultural reform laws, 85 percent of the farmers' organizations were not in favor of repealing those laws. This has been claimed by a member of a three-member committee appointed by the Supreme Court to review these laws and seek the views of all the parties. He says that the committee was also not in favor of scrapping the laws completely. There were some suggestions for improvement, which included leaving the purchase of crops at special prices to the states and repealing the Essential Commodities Act.
