Kushinagar Tragedy: The death toll in the accident in Naurangiya Tola village of Kushinagar, Uttar Pradesh on Wednesday night has risen to 13. The district administration has made arrangements for free treatment of the injured besides announcing financial assistance of Rs.4 lakh each to the dependents of the deceased. Along with this, SDRF teams are still in search of dead bodies in the well.
Kushinagar District Magistrate S Rajalingam said that in Naurangiya Tola village of Kushinagar on Wednesday night, children and women were sitting there during the worship of the old well covered with a slap. During this, the slap went down and the debris fell on them. 13 people have died and the condition of three people is critical. Financial assistance of Rs.4 lakh each will be given to the family members of each of the deceased.
Two lakh rupees each will be given to the families of the deceased of the Kushinagar accident and 50-50 thousand to the injured from the PM Relief Fund. The district administration will get two lakh rupees each to the families of the dead and 50-50 thousand to the injured. Along with President Ram Nath Kovind, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Governor Anandiben Patel, and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath have expressed their condolences on the accident.
ADG Gorakhpur Zone Akhil Kumar is also camping in Kushinagar. He said that relief work is going on on the spot. The search operation of SDRF teams is going on in the well. Along with women, there are also boys and girls among the dead. At the time of the incident, everyone was watching the dance going on in a family in celebration of the Haldi ceremony. Police of many police stations carried out rescue operations and took out the injured and dead bodies. It is being told that there was water up to two and a half feet in the well. The accident became serious after one fell on top of the other.
The son of Parameshwar Kushwaha, resident of Naurangiya's School Tola, is getting married on Thursday. In the order of the marriage ceremony, the women had gone to the well located in the village during the payment of turmeric rituals. Children also went with them. After this, standing on the slab made on the well, started watching the dance. In the meantime, the slab broke and fell into the well, due to which the women, including the children riding on it, fell into the well and were buried. There was an uproar as soon as the news of the incident was received. Everyone ran towards the spot. Police rescued everyone with the help of villagers. It took an hour and a half and by then it was too late. The 11 injured were brought to the district hospital, where they were declared brought dead. On the other hand, two children admitted to Kotwa CHC also died.
CMS Dr. SK Verma said that two women, including 11 people aged five to 25 years, have died. Other injured are undergoing treatment. DM S Rajalingam and SP Sachindra Patel said that everyone is shocked by this fascinating incident. The investigation is being done.
