
Srinagar, Jan 2 (IANS) Jammu and Kashmir's Leh town recorded the coldest night of the season Friday as the minimum temperature dropped to minus 17 degrees while overnight temperatures remained below the freezing point in the Valley.
"Leh town recorded the coldest night of the season today as the minimum temperature there dropped to minus 17.1 degrees Celsius.
"The minimum temperature was minus 16.1 in Kargil town, a degree better than Leh.
"Srinagar city recorded minus 5.4, Pahalgam minus 7.6 and Gulmarg minus 4.8 degrees as the minimum temperature. Jammu city had 6.6 degrees as the day's minimum temperature", a MET official told IANS Friday.
The official said cold, dry weather would continue across Jammu and Kashmir during the next 24 hours, but light rain and snowfall were expected at some places in the state Sunday.
