Russia-Ukraine War: Russia got only China's support in the biological weapons case, and India distanced itself from UNSC voting

Amidst the Russia-Ukraine war, India has distanced itself from another resolution passed in the UNSC. A big claim was made by Ukraine about the use of biological weapons. In the United Nations Security Council, Russia claimed that Ukrainian soldiers with the help of the US were using biological weapons.

Russia had passed a resolution demanding a probe by the UNSC in this matter. It was said that a commission should be set up to investigate the use of biological weapons in Ukraine's laboratories. However, India has completely distanced itself from this draft of Russia.

Russia got only China's Russia

Voting was done on this proposal of Russia in UANC, in which Russia got only China's support. The US, Britain, and France voted against the resolution. Other countries including India did not participate in this voting.

There was a demand for the formation of a 15-member commission

Russia last week alleged that biological weapons were being used in Ukraine with the help of the US Defense Ministry. Russia demanded that a 15-member council be set up to investigate the claims. Russia's ambassador to the United Nations, Vasily Nebenzia, said last week that Russia was open to a UN investigation of its allegations that the two countries were violating an agreement banning the use of biological weapons.
