In the wake of the tragedy at the Bargi Dam in Jabalpur, photos and videos exposing instances of negligence are now surfacing one by one. One such video is rapidly going viral on social media, raising serious questions regarding the entire incident.
The video clearly shows that as the cruise boat began to lose its balance, the crew members responsible for its operation started handing out life jackets to the passengers. Many of the life jackets were still sealed in bundles and were being hurriedly unpacked and distributed only at the very last moment. Shockingly, the majority of the passengers on board the cruise appear to be traveling without wearing any life jackets.
Another scene captured in the video shows a mother sitting with her young son in her arms; neither of them is wearing a life jacket. This visual further underscores the sheer horror of the accident and the gravity of the negligence involved.
The most pressing question now being raised is: if life jackets were available in sufficient numbers, why were passengers not instructed to wear them beforehand? Were these jackets kept merely as a formality, or were they left packed in bundles solely to be displayed during inspections?
Passengers Seen Enjoying Themselves and Listening to Music Before the Cruise Sank
In the moments leading up to the sinking of the cruise boat, passengers can be seen listening to music and enjoying their ride. During this time, most passengers are visibly not wearing life jackets. Little did anyone know, however, that this moment of revelry would turn out to be their final one before meeting their demise. No one could have possibly imagined such a horrific tragedy.
Bundles of Life Jackets Found Floating in the Dam on Friday
Notably, during the relief and rescue operations conducted on Friday, bundles of life jackets were discovered floating in the dam waters. In light of this, it is becoming increasingly evident that gross negligence was committed in the name of safety—negligence that ultimately rendered this tragedy even more catastrophic. This video not only reveals the stark reality of the accident but also raises serious questions regarding the conduct and operational protocols of those responsible. Now, all eyes are fixed on the inquiry report, which will reveal the true picture of this entire incident.
Search Continues for Four Missing Passengers; Action Taken Against Personnel
A total of nine passengers lost their lives in the Bargi Dam tragedy, while 28 were rescued safely. Meanwhile, four passengers remain missing, and the search for them is ongoing. Relief and rescue operations were resumed early this morning at 5:00 AM. Additionally, the government has ordered a rigorous inquiry into the matter. Action is currently being taken against those responsible for the negligence. The services of the cruise pilot (Mahesh Patel), the cruise helper (Chhotelal Gond), and the Ticket Counter In-charge (FOA)—Brijendra—have been terminated with immediate effect.
