Tirunelveli (Tamil Nadu), March 19 (IANS) AIADMK leader J. Jayalalithaa Wednesday urged people to trounce the Congress and make its candidates lose even their election deposit in the coming Lok Sabha polls.
"The Congress should lose its deposit in all the constituencies as it paved the way for price rise by hiking oil prices every month," Jayalalithaa said at a rally here, around 650 km from Chennai.
She said her government in Tamil Nadu has taken several steps to protect people from the severe rise in prices in the past 10 years due to the wrong economic policies of the Congress-led government.
"As a result, investments and exports have come down while the economy is in doldrums," she said.
On the DMK's manifesto and the promise of implementing 27 percent reservation, Jayalalithaa wondered why the party did not take any action when it was part of the central government all these years.
She said DMK president M. Karunanidhi was concerned only about portfolio allocations at the centre and was not bothered about reservation for backward classes.
Jayalalithaa urged the people to throw out the DMK in the elections.
On the power supply situation in the state, Jayalalithaa said long-term power purchase agreements have been signed and the situation would improve soon.
