The second phase of the Navy's most famous Malabar exercise in the Bay of Bengal began today. This exercise will run from 12-15 October. This includes the Indian Navy, the Japan Maritime Self Defense Force of Japan, the Royal Australian Navy of Australia, and the US Navy. Several warships and other ships from the front lines of the navies will perform in this exercise. The Malabar Naval Exercise began in 1992 as a bilateral exercise between the Indian Navy and the US Navy in the Indian Ocean. Japan also became its member in 2015. Australia also started participating in the Malabar exercise last year after India's invitation.
