The Chief Minister said that masks should be made mandatory in public places in NCR districts (Gautam Budh Nagar, Ghaziabad, Hapur, Meerut, Bulandshahr, Baghpat) and Lucknow district. In the last 24 hours, 65 new positive patients have been confirmed in Gautam Budh Nagar, 20 in Ghaziabad, and 10 in Lucknow. The situation in these areas should be closely monitored. He said that only the Omicron variant of Covid has been confirmed during genome sequencing of samples of patients found to be Covid positive in NCR. According to experts, the number of cases may increase but there will be no situation of hospitalization or the patient becoming very serious. People should be made aware to follow the covid protocol.

At present, the total number of active cases in the state is 695. In the last 24 hours, 83 thousand 864 corona tests were done, in which 115 new corona patients were confirmed. In the same period, 29 people were treated and became corona free. We have to take utmost care and caution.

The progress of the Covid vaccination campaign is satisfactory. But there is a need to accelerate the vaccination of children. With more than 30.75 million Covid vaccinations, so far more than 103 percent of the adult population has received the first dose of the vaccine, while more than 86.34 percent of people have received both doses. More than 94 percent of adolescents in the 15 to 17 age group have received their first dose. After the first dose, children in the age group of 12 to 14 years should be given the second dose as per eligibility.

A booster dose can be administered at 700 private immunization centers. The general public should be made aware of the importance of these vaccination centers and booster doses. People over the age of 18 are expected to accelerate booster doses. In any case, it should be ensured that not a single citizen is deprived of the vaccine.
