Measles in Mumbai: Measles continues to wreak havoc in Mumbai, 11 more cases surfaced, and one suspect dead

Measles is not taking the name of havoc in Mumbai, the capital of Maharashtra. Today once again 11 new cases have been reported in the metropolis and one suspect has died. With the fresh cases, the number of infections in the metropolis has gone up to 303 so far this year, a Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) official said on Monday. The death toll from measles has risen to eight and the suspected deaths to three. The one-year-old girl, who died on Monday in the Andheri area in the west of the city, had not been vaccinated, the statement said.

Mumbai will vaccinate 1,34,833 children in the age group of nine months to five years, the civic body said in a statement. They will get an additional dose (special dose) from December 1 at 33 health posts. A total of 3,496 children in the age group of six to nine months in 13 health posts where cases of measles below nine months have been reported will also be given an additional dose of the measles-rubella vaccine. Measles patients in these hospitals

Measles outbreaks have been reported from 21 locations in 10 of Mumbai's 24 civic wards, according to the bulletin. Patients infected with measles were isolated or admitted for treatment in eight hospitals - Kasturba Hospital, Shivaji Nagar Maternity Home, Bharat Ratna Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Hospital, Rajawadi Hospital, Shatabdi Hospital, Kurla Bhabha Hospital and Krantijyoti Savitribai Phule Hospital and Seven Hills Hospital has gone.
