Olympic silver medallist Mirabai Chanu delivered a historic performance by winning India's first gold medal at the Commonwealth Games 2026. Competing in the women's 48kg weightlifting category, Chanu lifted a combined 190kg (85kg Snatch + 105kg Clean & Jerk) to secure the top podium finish in Glasgow.

The victory marks Mirabai Chanu's third consecutive Commonwealth Games gold medal, following her triumphs at Gold Coast 2018 and Birmingham 2022. She had earlier claimed a silver medal at Glasgow 2014, making her one of India's most successful Commonwealth weightlifters.

Following the introduction of the 65kg category, Raja made a successful comeback, finishing ninth at the 2025 World Championships before now winning Commonwealth silver.
