Modi targets AAP, tells Delhi not to vote for 'betrayers'

New Delhi, March 26 (IANS) Attacking the AAP for "betraying" the people of Delhi, BJP's prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi Wednesday asked voters not to repeat their "mistake" when the national capital goes to the polls April 10.

Addressing his third rally in three states - Jammu and Kashmir, Uttar Pradesh and Delhi - Modi termed the Aam Aadmi Party as the "B team" of the Congress.

"There is no place for betrayers in politics. People can forgive mistakes but not betrayals. Based on their experiences, people of Delhi should decide who should form the next government," he said, alluding to the 49-day AAP government.

"AAP first formed government with Congress. They then resigned and handed over the government to Congress through the Lt. Governor. They only want to help the Congress and are least bothered about the country," Modi said at a rally in Shastri Park area of northeast Delhi.

"They (AAP) are not bothered about India's future but want to ensure a Congress victory," he said.

He said the country will forgive mistakes but not fraud. "Such people cannot have any place in politics."

Modi asked people of Delhi "not to repeat their mistake" of voting for the AAP again.

The AAP, which secured 28 seats in the Delhi assembly polls, formed the government with outside support of the Congress. But chief minister Arvind Kejriwal quit after 49 days over the issue of bringing in a Lokpal bill.

Referring to opinion polls that have projected a big win for the BJP, Modi said: "This is the first election where big political experts or voters all are able to tell who will form the next government."

He also said certain political parties were forming alliances to ensure that his party doesn't come to power after the election.

"Neither are they worried about the people nor the future of the country. For the first time, alliances are being formed to ensure that Modi does not come to power. Alliances are being formed to prevent BJP from winning," he said.
