The Congress on Thursday urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to seek a response from the Gujarat government for the "loose investigation process" into the Morbi bridge collapse incident.
Party's national president Mallikarjun Kharge made several allegations in a Twitter post. The rusted cable of the bridge was not repaired, he said. The bridge was opened on 26 October without a certificate of fitness and official consent. The contractor was not qualified for the job. The municipality chief knew that the bridge was open the day before the tragedy.
In another tweet, he said, "More than 130 deaths and no action taken against contractors and municipal officials? Is this the Negligence Act of God?
The Prime Minister should pull up his government for this lax investigation process, he said. The bridge collapsed at around 6.30 pm on Sunday, in which 135 people lost their lives.
