Search engine giant Google has revealed its list of the most searched athletes globally in the year 2023. Some big sports stars made headlines this year, with Cristiano Ronaldo shocking the world by joining Al Nasr and Lionel Messi joining Inter Miami. However, when it comes to the list of 'Most Searched Athletes' globally the two are not in the top 10, which is surprising. Indian cricketers Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma are also absent from the list. However, one Indian cricketer has managed to make it to the top 10.
This cricketer is none other than India's rising star Shubhman Gill. The year 2023 was a great year for this top-order batsman. He cemented his place in the Indian team in all three formats. Also scored centuries in all three formats. Shubman is being seen as a future star. His performance has played a vital role in Team India's success across all formats in 2023. Shubman is in ninth position in the list of most searched athletes on Google in the year 2023.
However, Shubman is not the highest-ranked cricketer on this list. New Zealand's young sensation Rachin Ravindra is the most searched cricketer globally in 2023. At the same time, among athletes, he stood in eighth place, one step above Shubman. Topping the list is NFL star Damar Hamlin, who plays for the Buffalo Bills. He is followed by Paris Saint-Germain and France striker Kylian Mbappe, while another NFL star Travis Kelce is at number three. NBA star Ja Morant is in fourth place while Bayern Munich and England striker Harry Kane is in fifth place.
Serbia's Novak Djokovic, who has won the most Grand Slams in tennis, occupied the seventh position. After this, the new ATP number one is Spain's Carlos Alcaraz. Basketball player Kyrie Irving, who plays for Dallas Mavericks, is at number 10.
