Mrs. Undercover Review: Radhika Apte's film is more of a home story than a mission, humor, and thrill missing from the story

The spy comedy film Mrs. Undercover is Anushree Mehta's directorial debut. The story begins with a murder. Ajay (Sumit Vyas) is a social worker, but he has a problem with independent and empowered women.

He kills them. From there the story follows Durga (Radhika Apte) living in Kolkata, who is a homemaker and is happy taking care of her husband, in-laws, and child. The head of the Special Force (Rajesh Sharma) along with the police are on the lookout for the killer.

Killer Ajay has killed all the agents of the Special Force. In such a situation, the forces are looking for an agent. He finds out from the files in his office that there is an agent who trained 10 years ago but was never given a mission. That agent is Durga herself. Will Durga say yes to this mission, will the special force be able to nab the killer, the story progresses on this.

How are the story, screenplay, dialogues, and direction?

The story, screenplay, dialogues, and direction of the film are by Anushree Mehta. Due to so many responsibilities, both humor and adventure are missing from the story. The face of the killer is shown at the beginning of the film. After that, the story just drags on. In between, as soon as the word housewife is mentioned, a long monologue and knowledge start going on.

The genre of humor may have been mixed in the film, but it is not digestible to show the police and special forces so stupid. Durga, who has been trained to protect the country, shows more interest in teaching her a lesson about her husband's infidelity than in the mission.

The conversation between the chief of the special force and his agent fails to generate humor. The killer's angle of targeting the lady chief minister is childish, where only a rookie agent is tasked with saving her.

When Killer feels that his mother is also talking about women's empowerment, then he kills his mother too. But Anushree did not understand the need to explain why she is like this, why she has a problem with the empowerment of women.

How is the acting of the actors?

Radhika Apte, who is continuously working on OTT, is a good artist. She also gets a chance to do action in the film, yet she fails to impress as the weak story doesn't allow her to do so. The work of Rajesh Sharma, and Sumit Vyas is also mediocre.

In the climax of the film, the scene of housewives in red saris and Vermilion killing the killer looks like a serial. There is also a hint of a sequel at the end. The songs and music are not such that they are remembered after the completion of the film.
