Narayan Murthy, co-founder of Indian IT company Infosys, has again reiterated the need to work 70 hours a week and appealed to the youth to work hard for the development of the country. Murthy first suggested the idea of working 70 hours a week to boost the country's development in the year 2023.
The younger generation will have to work hard.
Although he was criticized by many people and some doctors, many people including Ola CEO Bhavish Aggarwal also praised it. Murthy said at an event in Kolkata that the younger generation should realize that they have to work hard and work towards making the country number one. He stressed the need for Indians to strive for excellence.
Create employment
Murthy, while talking to RPSG Group Chairman Sanjeev Goenka at the centenary celebrations of the Indian Chamber of Commerce, said, 'We Indians have a lot to do. We have to keep our aspirations big because 80 crore Indians get free ration. This means that 80 crore Indians are in poverty. If we are not in a position to work hard, who will? Murthy said a country can fight poverty only if it creates jobs that give us disposable income.
He said the government has no role in entrepreneurship. Entrepreneurs play a vital role in nation-building by creating wealth and jobs. Entrepreneurs build nations because they create jobs, they create wealth for their investors and they pay taxes. So, if a country adopts capitalism, it will build good roads, trains, and infrastructure.
