The trailer of Diljit Dosanjh's film Sardar ji 3 was released on 24 June. While fans were happy to see their favorite star on screen, some people did not like the presence of Pakistani actress Hania Aamir in the film. These people started protesting against the film so that it would not be released. The film will now be released only internationally. Film organizations in India have demanded a ban on this film in the country given the increased tension between India and Pakistan after the Pahalgam terrorist attack.
Singer clarified this matter
Now actor-singer Diljit Dosanjh has openly talked about the ongoing controversy over the casting of Pakistani actress Hania Aamir in his upcoming film 'Sardar ji 3'. In a recent interview with BBC Asian Network, the actor revealed that the film was shot in February, which is before the terrorist attack in Pahalgam. The Pahalgam attack took place on April 22, 2025.
Will the film not be released in India?
Diljit spoke on the ongoing protests against the film. He also expressed his support to the producers for releasing the film abroad. In the interview, he further said that many things happened out of his control and now, the situation is not in his hands. Breaking his silence on the controversy, he said, "When this film was made, the situation was fine. We shot it in February and everything was fine then.
After that, many big things are not in our hands. So the producers decided that the film would be made, obviously, now it will not be released in India, so let's release it abroad. The producers have invested a lot of money in it and when this film was being made, there was nothing like this." I support it - Diljit
Expressing his support to the makers of 'Sardarji 3', he said, "They know that it will cause losses because you are removing an entire region. Everything was fine even when I signed the film. Now, the situation is not in our hands. So, if the producers want to release it abroad, I support them."
Let us tell you that 26 people lost their lives in the attack in Pahalgam on April 22. After this, there was a lot of tension in India-Pakistan relations. The Film Association had banned working with Pakistani artists after this.
