Seeing Babar Azam's team being eliminated from the tournament, former Pakistan fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar expressed regret over this. He said that for the first time in Asia Cup, India-Pakistan lost the chance of final.

Whatever chances Pakistan had of winning the match, were all because of him. Shaheen Afridi also got some wickets, but the credit for this goes to Zaman. He bowled really well. Sri Lanka played well and deserved the final. The world will no longer get to see the India-Pakistan final match.
