Pakistan-Saudi Arabia missing from the list of US security allies; The biggest challenge told to China

Posted on 14th Oct 2022 06:45 pm by rohit kumar

The US has not mentioned Pakistan and Saudi Arabia in its list of security allies for the year 2022. These two countries were once key allies in the US national security strategy. According to the report, the US sees China as the biggest geopolitical challenge, not Russia. The 48-page document mentions terrorism and other geo-strategic threats in the South and Central Asian region, which does not name Pakistan as an essential ally to counter those threats. Pakistan's name was not even in the strategy paper for the year 2021.

Pakistan has long complained that the US has only seen it as a medium to counter threats from Afghanistan and other countries. In recent statements, officials in the US and Pakistan stressed the need to distinguish it from both Afghanistan and India. US officials have also acknowledged Pakistan's desire to maintain close ties with China. This is the reason why America has made such a strategy to counter China's influence in this region.

'Russia's biggest threat to US global interests after China'

In the document, Russia has been described as the second biggest threat to America's global interests after China. He has been condemned for starting an unprovoked war on Ukraine. It said the two-pronged strategy underscores pandemics, climate change, inflation, and economic insecurity. Increasing competition with major powers such as China and Russia poses a major threat to US interests.

Iran's aggressive attitude was also criticized

The document cautions that if we lose time in this decade, we will not be able to keep pace with the climate crisis. This strategy also portrays Iran as an autocratic power acting in an aggressive and destabilizing manner. The US has portrayed India as the world's largest democracy and major defense partner in realizing the independent Indo-Pacific vision. At the same time, Saudi Arabia's absence led to a decision to cut production from there by 2 million barrels per day, adding to already high gas prices in the US.
