Personnel of the National Disaster Response Force, who arrived to assist in rescue operations following the devastating earthquakes in Turkey and Syria, have returned to India. Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday interacted with Indian aid and disaster relief teams who returned after participating in rescue operations in earthquake-hit Turkey and appreciated their work.
Modi gave instructions for all possible help to Turkey-Syria
PM Modi informed in the tweet that he interacted with the personnel involved in 'Operation Dost' in Turkey and Syria. He said that their efforts in dealing with the disaster and providing relief have been commendable. A total of three NDRF teams were sent to earthquake-hit Turkey on 7 February. Prime Minister Modi had instructed these teams to provide all possible help to earthquake-hit Turkey.
Debris searched 35 places in search of life
Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Arindam Bagchi informed on Twitter that the last NDRF team has returned to India from Turkey under Operation Dost. 151 personnel of NDRF and 3 teams of dog squads assisted earthquake-hit Turkey. He said that these teams tried to rescue people trapped in the debris and carried out rescue and relief operations in 35 places in Nurdagi and Antakya.
Turkey expressed gratitude to India
More than 40,000 people died in different parts of both countries in the devastating earthquake on 6 February. To assist Turkey and Syria in this disaster, India started 'Operation Dost'. Under Operation Dost, India sent medicines and security equipment to Turkey and Syria. Turkey's Foreign Ministry has thanked India for the relief work and cooperation.
