PM Modi Visit: PM Modi to be honored with Lokmanya Tilak Award, Sharad-Ajit Pawar seen on the same stage

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is on a visit to Pune city of Maharashtra today. Here he will lay the foundation stone of various development projects and will also be honored with the Lokmanya Tilak National Award.

Will be honored with Lokmanya Tilak National Award

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be honored with the Lokmanya Tilak National Award, instituted by the Tilak Smarak Mandir Trust in 1983 to honor the legacy of Lokmanya Tilak. PM Modi has reached the ceremony. Here he offered floral tributes to Lokmanya Tilak.

 

The award is given on the death anniversary of Lokmanya Tilak

The statement said that the award is given to those people who have worked for the progress and development of the nation and whose contribution can only be seen as remarkable. Also, the statement said that it is presented every year on August 1, the death anniversary of Lokmanya Tilak.

 

Sharad Pawar appeared on stage with PM Modi

Maharashtra CM Eknath Shinde, both deputy CMs Devendra Fadnavis and Ajit Pawar as well as Sharad Pawar were also seen on stage with PM Modi in this ceremony.

 

Many veterans have got this honor

NCP chief Sharad Pawar has been invited as the chief guest for the event, the organizers said. PM Modi will become the 41st recipient of this award. It has previously been given this award to veterans like Dr. Shankar Dayal Sharma, Pranab Mukherjee, Atal Bihari Vajpayee, Indira Gandhi, Manmohan Singh, NR Narayana Murthy, E Sreedharan.

 

Metro will be flagged off

The PIB statement said that at 12.45 pm on Tuesday, the Prime Minister will flag off Metro trains and inaugurate and lay the foundation stone of various development projects.

 

PM Modi will flag off metro trains on completed sections of two corridors of Pune Metro Phase I. These sections are from Phugewadi station to Civil Court station and from Garware College station to Ruby Hall Clinic station. PM Modi laid the foundation stone of this project in the year 2016.

 

The new section will connect the Pune railway station

The new stretches will connect important places of Pune city like Shivaji Nagar, Civil Court, Pune Municipal Corporation Office, Pune RTO, and Pune Railway Station. The inauguration is a significant step towards realizing the Prime Minister's vision of providing a modern and environment-friendly comprehensive rapid urban transport system to citizens across the country, the statement said.

 

Will inaugurate the power plant

Prime Minister Modi will also inaugurate a waste-to-energy plant under the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC). Developed at a cost of around Rs 300 crore, it will utilize around 2.5 lakh metric tonnes of waste annually for power generation, the statement said.

 

Houses will be handed over to more than 2 thousand people

Moving towards the mission of achieving housing for all, PM Modi will hand over 1,280 houses constructed by PCMC under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY). He will also hand over 2,650 PMAY houses constructed by the Pune Municipal Corporation.

 

Apart from this, PM Modi will also lay the foundation stone for around 1,190 PMAY houses to be built by the PCMC and over 6,400 houses to be built by the Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority, the statement said.
