Many films based on politics are often made in the Bollywood industry before the elections. 'The Kashmir Files' is the latest example of this. The film, made under the direction of Vivek Agnihotri, is being liked a lot by the audience. The film depicts the plight of Kashmiri Pandits. Uri: The Surgical Strike

Vicky Kaushal starrer 'Uri' was released in theaters on 11 January 2019 at the box office. The film was based on the 2016 surgical strike. The film was released before the general elections held in April-May 2019. 'Uri' turned out to be a super hit at the box office, while cinema halls reverberated with fans' voices 'How is the Josh'. At the same time, some people could not ignore the political and social context of the film.

 

The Accidental Prime Minister

 

The film 'The Accidental Prime Minister also came with Uri on 11 January 2019. The role of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh was played by Bollywood actor Anupam Kher in the film. The film was based on the 2014 novel The Accidental Prime Minister by Sanjaya Baru. This film could not show anything special at the box office.

 

PM Narendra Modi

 

The film 'PM Narendra Modi' was released on May 24, a day after the 2019 General Assembly election results. Vivek Oberoi was seen in the role of PM Modi. The film was also in a lot of controversies before its release, due to which its release date was also extended. The film was earlier being released mid-election, but the opposition raised questions saying that doing so would be a violation of the model code of conduct.

The film was released in theaters on 17 November 2017. The film depicts the day-to-day functioning of the AAP party including the Delhi elections between December 2012 and December 2013. It was a crowdfunding film as none of the investors were ready to invest in the film. With a stellar opening, it was one of the highest-grossing documentaries at the box office.

 

Thackeray

 

Nawazuddin played the lead role in the film 'Thackeray', directed by Abhijit Panse. The film is based on the life of Shiv Sena supremo Bal Thackeray. This film too had been in a lot of controversies for its release before the Lok Sabha elections held in 2019. Amrita Singh played the role of Meena Thackeray, the wife of Bal Thackeray, in the film released on 23 January 2019.

 

Travel

 

The film is based on the padayatra of YS Rajasekhara Reddy, the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh from 2004 to 2009. The film was released on 8 February 2019. It was a Telugu biographical film, in which South actor Mammootty played the role of CM.

Director Rupesh Paul's film 'My Name is Raga' was also released before the 2019 Lok Sabha elections. On which there were a lot of controversies, the makers had said that the purpose of the film is not to make the image of Rahul Gandhi strong. Rather, it is that of an ordinary person, who remains in power after winning a life full of controversies.

 

The Tashkent Files

 

The film, which was released on 12 April 2019, is about the mysterious death of former Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri. Shweta Basu Prasad, Naseeruddin Shah, and Mithun Chakraborty were seen in lead roles in Vivek Agnihotri's film.
