England beat India by 4 wickets in the 15th match of the Women's World Cup. England had a target of 135 runs, which the team achieved by losing 6 wickets in 31.2 overs. Captain Heather Knight, who scored an unbeaten 53 in the win, was the top scorer. This is the first win for defending champions England after three consecutive defeats in the tournament.

 

Earlier, batting first after losing the toss, Team India could only score 135 runs and got all out in 36.2 overs. Smriti Mandhana (35) was the top scorer while Richa Ghosh scored 33 runs. Charlotte Dean took 4 wickets for ENG.

Team India's second defeat

 

This is the fourth defeat of the Indian team in the current tournament. Before England, New Zealand beat India by 62 runs. In 4 matches, Team India has won 2 matches and lost in two.

 

Meghna's hard work went in vain

 

In the match, Indian fast bowler Meghna Singh took 3 wickets for 21 runs while bowling brilliantly. In the 29th over of England's innings, two players were dismissed within three balls. 29.1 overs Meghna got Sofia Dunkley (17) caught by wicketkeeper Risha Ghosh and sent Katherine Brunt to the pavilion for zero on the third ball of the over. Although she could not win India even after this performance.

 

Jhulan created history

 

Former Indian captain Jhulan Goswami has created history. Jhulan has become the first woman player to take 250 wickets in ODIs. He achieved this feat by dismissing England's opener Tammy Beaumont (1) LBW. England also lost the second wicket with Beaumont's dismissal. Tammy was given not-out by the umpire, but Indian captain Mithali Raj took a review, replays showed that the ball was hitting the off-stump.

 

After this, Knight and Natalie Sciver added 65 runs in 84 balls for the third wicket to bring England back into the match. This partnership was broken by Pooja Vastrakar by dismissing Natalie (45). Rajeshwari Gaikwad got the fourth blow to England by dismissing Amy Jones (10). Harmanpreet Kaur catches Amy's excellent catch at mid-on.

 

Meghna took the first wicket

 

Chasing the target, England had a poor start and Meghna Singh took the wicket of Danielle Wyatt on the very first ball of the second over, giving India the first breakthrough. Sneh Rana caught the catch of Wyatt with a brilliant dive in the first sleep.

 

Richa and Jhulan crossed the score of 100

 

India's 7th wicket fell in the form of Pooja Vastrakar. Pooja scored 6 runs in 9 balls and was dismissed LBW by Charlotte Dean. After this, Richa Ghosh and Jhulan Goswami added 37 runs in 52 balls for the 8th wicket. In 34 overs, Jhulan played a right-handed shot towards midwicket and Richa ran for a run at the non-striker's end. After Jhulan refused, she ran back to the crease but lost her wicket due to a direct hit from Natalie Sciver. She was dismissed for 33 runs off 56 balls.

 

In the very next over, Jhulan Goswami (20) also returned to the pavilion. His wicket came in the account of Kate Cross.

 

India's 6 players got out in single digits.

Charlotte Dean took four wickets in an ODI inning for the second time.

 

This is the best performance of Dean (4/23) in ODIs.

 

LBW out Mandhana

 

The biggest blow to Team India came from the wicket of Smriti Mandhana. Smriti scored 35 runs off 58 balls and was dismissed LBW by Sophie Eccleston. Mandhana went against the umpire's decision and took a review, but replays showed that there was no contact between the ball and the bat, the ball was hitting the wickets. India lost the sixth wicket at 71.

 

Charlotte Dean gave 2 blows in an over

 

After losing the first 3 wickets at 28, Smriti Mandhana and Harmanpreet Kaur tried to get the Indian innings back on track by adding 33 runs off 50 balls for the fourth wicket. The pair was catching their eye when off-spinner Charlotte Dean dismissed Harman (14) and pushed Team India back again. Dean also showed the way out of the field by dismissing Sneh Rana (0) after two balls in the same over. Harman and Sneh were caught by wicketkeeper Amy Jones.

 

Half of India's team returned to the pavilion on a score of 61.

 

Sneh Rana got out for 0 for the first time in 13 ODI innings.

 

Anya (81 innings) became the second fastest to 100 wickets for ENG. The name of Isha Guha (80) comes before him.

 

India lost 3 wickets for 28 runs

 

Yastik disappointed: India started playing first after losing the toss and Yastika Bhatia scored 8 runs in 11 balls and got bowled by Anya Shrubsole. With this wicket, Anya became the 5th woman bowler for England to take 100 wickets in ODI cricket.

 

Mithali's poor performance continues: Anya gave great success to England by dismissing Indian captain Mithali Raj (1) in her very next over. Mithali wanted to drive on the inswing ball, but could not keep the ball down and was caught by Sofia Dunkley at cover point. Mithali has scored only 46 runs at an average of 11.50 in 4 innings of the current tournament.

 

Deepti Sharma out without opening an account: The team was not even able to recover from these two shocks that Deepti Sharma was run out without opening an account. India lost the third wicket for only 28. Deepti was dismissed for zero for the third time in her ODI career.
