PSG got another defeat on their home ground, fans got angry with Messi, and teased the middle ground

The team of Paris St. Germain, adorned with star footballers Lionel Messi, Neymar, and Kylian Embappé, suffered defeat for the second consecutive match on the home ground on Sunday. Lyon defeated PSG 1-0 in the French Football League Ligue-1. Two weeks before this, Rennes had also defeated PSG 2-0 at their home ground. Lyon won with a goal from Bradley Barcola. Barkola came on the field as a replacement for Amin Sar.

 

This is PSG's fifth defeat in League One this season. He got all these defeats in 2023 only. PSG, led by Christopher Gaultier, is now just six points ahead of second-placed Lens and third-placed Marseille. If PSG's team loses one or two more matches, then it may have to lose its first place as well. In this match, the reason for PSG's defeat was blamed on Lionel Messi.

 

The match itself started controversially. When the team line-up was announced and the names of all the PSG players were taken over the loudspeaker, as soon as Messi's name came up, fans in one part of the stadium started protesting by taking Messi's name. However, after this, there were slogans in support of Messi from the other side of the stadium. 35-year-old Messi's contract with PSG is about to expire. He signed a two-year contract with this club. Now Messi's name is again being associated with the Barcelona club. It is being said that he will return to the Spanish club.

 

Messi has played 67 matches for PSG in two seasons and scored 29 goals. However, coach Gaultier has backed Messi. He said- Leo is such a player who tries his best and he did a lot of work for the team at the beginning of the season. I have never thought of removing him from the team. However, after this defeat, the team will have to show a better game. There is no guarantee of the title, but there are still a lot of matches to go. There are many things to change, not just the mindset.

 

PSG is currently struggling with injury. Neymar is recovering from ankle surgery. Embappe did not appear in form and could not score any goal. The coach said – We cannot expect everything from Messi and Embappé. This is our eighth defeat in 2023, which is too many. PSG now have to play against Nice at their home ground. Nice's team hasn't lost at home since January 2.
