Gurgaon, Feb 9 (IANS) A number of people, including college students and relatives of a dental surgery student who allegedly committed suicide Feb 4, here Monday blocked traffic, demanding the arrest of people responsible for her extreme step.

The protest caused heavy traffic snarl on the Gurgaon-Jhajjar road.

Payal Godara, 22, was a final-year bachelors' student at the SGT Dental College, Hospital and Research Institute in Gurgaon's Chandu Budhera village. Her body was found hanging in her hostel room from the ceiling fan by her roommate.

Students and the girl's relatives Monday protested outside the SGT university, demanding arrest of the teacher and principal who forced her to take the extreme step. The protesters also blocked traffic on the Gurgaon-Jhajjar road here, police said.

The family also alleged that Godara's suicide note was changed.

"She was very weak in the Hindi language but the suicide note found was in the same language has without many spelling mistakes," said Omprakash, the girl's uncle, adding that her suicide note was changed.

Protesters also demanded a CBI probe into the matter and appealed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar to intervene in the matter to ensure justice in the case.

The police have already registered a case against university management under abetment to suicide and other sections.

Payal Godara was reportedly under stress after failing an examination.

In her suicide note, she said she took the extreme step as she was unhappy with her performance in the final examination. She also mentioned that she did not hold anyone responsible for the suicide which she claimed was her decision.

The college spokesperson said that the girl was under pressure to re-appear in the exam which she had failed previously. "SGT higher authority have directed the college staff to investigate the matter."

The college was opened Monday after holidays were announced by management following the girl's suicide.
