What is the history of the PM Memorial?
Teen Murti Bhavan, part of Edwin Lutyens' Imperial Capital, was the official residence of the Commander-in-Chief of India during British rule. In 1948, Teen Murti Bhawan became the official residence of Jawaharlal Nehru, the country's first prime minister, after the departure of the last Commander-in-Chief of British India. He lived here for about 16 years and it was here that he breathed his last. After his death, this Teen Murti Bhawan was dedicated to his memory. Since then it came to be known as Pandit Nehru Memorial. Now the Central Government has changed its name from Nehru Memorial to PM Museum and Society.
