The fear of monkeypox is increasing in front of the world battling the corona epidemic. New York has the highest number of patients in America. Because of the growing panic, the Health Commissioner of New York has demanded the World Health Organization (WHO) change the name of this virus.

According to the WHO, monkeypox has so far knocked in 75 countries. The number of patients worldwide has exceeded 16 thousand. The WHO has recently declared a global health emergency due to monkeypox.

The number of monkeypox patients in New York has increased to 1,092. Because of this, a request has been made to change the name of the disease so that people suffering from this disease should not be maligned and their treatment and care should not be disturbed. New York's Public Health Commissioner Ashwin Vasan has written a letter to WHO chief Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus on Tuesday, saying that we are concerned about the malignancy and treatment of monkeypox infected. Monkeypox patients may be denied treatment because of the fear of infection.

WHO also suggested changing the name

Vasan has also written in his letter that the suggestion to change the name of monkeypox was given by the WHO only last month. In support of his demand for a name change, Vasan also referred to the racist history that led to the use of the term 'monkeypox' to refer to a particular community. He said that monkeypox is also a name similar to the smallpox virus that has been eradicated from the world, so it should also be changed.

Trump called Kovid 'China Virus'

Vasan also said that even at the time of HIV disease, negative feelings toward patients were created in people's minds due to misconceptions about it. Similarly, former President Donald Trump had also indirectly blamed the Asian community for this epidemic by terming Kovid-19 as 'China virus'.
