
New Delhi, March 9 (IANS) The restoration work on the Sher Shah Gate, opposite Purana Qila, is in progress and will be completed in the next financial year, Union Minister of Tourism and Culture Mahesh Sharma informed parliament on Monday.
In a written reply to the Lok Sabha, Sharma said: "The necessary repair/restoration work of Sher Shah Gate in Delhi has been taken up and it is in progress. The work is likely to be completed in the next financial year 2015-16."
"After collapse of the said portion of the gate, a brick wall was raised to support the structure and detailed documentation was done," he added.
A small portion of Sher Shah Gate had collapsed due to heavy rainfall in 2012.
