Russian President Vladimir Putin addressed Russia's parliament on Tuesday. Putin's address came a day after US President Joe Biden visits Ukraine. In this, he called the security of the people of his country important and also made many announcements related to the war. During his address, Putin said that he is addressing the country at a time that is difficult and important for the country. Big changes are happening all over the world. Putin said that Russia was fighting to liberate Ukraine. Putin also criticized Western countries. Putin said that Moscow had proposed peace talks with NATO but NATO did not respond properly.
Putin made serious allegations against the West
We had tried everything possible to establish peace in the Donbas area which had remained sensitive since 2014 but different conspiracies were being hatched behind our backs. Putin said that Ukraine and Donbas have become symbols of lies. Putin accused Western countries of withdrawing from the accord, making false statements, and expanding NATO. Putin said that the western countries are the culprits of this war and we are only using the army to stop it.
'Ukrainian government has become a hostage of the West'
In his address, the Russian President claimed that the people of Ukraine have become hostages of their Western masters. Western countries have taken over Ukraine's politics, economy, and military. Putin accused the current government of Ukraine of not looking after the interests of its country and working for the interests of foreign powers.
'The West has let the genie out of the bottle'
The Russian President said that numerous allegations were made against Russia during the recent Munich Security Conference. Putin made a big statement saying that through war the West has let the genie out of the bottle. Putin also accused Westerners of orchestrating coups in several countries. He said that we were ready for talks with the West and we wanted to have a common security arrangement but in return, we were given misleading answers. Putin accused the US of expanding NATO and building its military bases all over the world.
'Western countries targeting Russian values'
Putin said that Western countries know that they cannot defeat Russia on the battlefield, so they are aggressively attacking Russia with information. Western countries are targeting Russian values and the young generation of Russia. Information, military as well as economic aggression was carried out against Russia but they did not succeed in this. Putin described the people of Donetsk and Luhansk regions as his brothers and sisters and said that together we will be stronger. He said he can't wait for peace to return to his homeland.
Putin wants to create a separate payment system from Western countries
Vladimir Putin said that he wants to create a secure and international payment system that does not depend on Western countries. He said that this system was made to oppress the people of Russia but he did not succeed in it. Putin claimed that the share of the Russian ruble in the international payment system has doubled. Putin also said that the country has achieved record crop production and has set a target of increasing grain exports to 60 million tonnes by the end of 2023.
