Russia-Ukraine War: Biden condemns Russia's missile attack on Ukraine, says will give more help to Kyiv

Russia fired several missiles at Ukraine on Monday. Many Ukrainians died in the missile attack. Meanwhile, US President Joe Biden has condemned Russia for these attacks. Biden has also promised to deliver advanced air defense systems to Kyiv.

 

Talks between Biden and Zelensky

After the missile attack on Ukraine, Biden spoke to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on the phone. According to the US Department of Defense, from January 2021, the US has pledged to provide more than US$15 billion in security assistance to Ukraine.

Biden condemns Russia

 

A statement issued by the White House said, 'President Biden spoke to his counterpart Zelensky. He has condemned Russia for missile attacks on Ukraine, including the capital Kyiv. Biden expressed his condolences to those killed and injured in the senseless attacks. "President Biden has promised to continue to provide Ukraine with the assistance needed to defend itself, including an advanced air defense system," the statement added.

 

Earlier last week, Biden announced an additional $625 million in military aid to Ukraine. This included the High Mobility Artillery Rocket System or HIMARS, artillery systems, and armored vehicles.

 

Zelensky said - air defense is the priority

 

At the same time, Zelensky said during this conversation that Ukraine's air defense is his priority. Zelensky tweeted, "Had an important conversation with Biden. Air defense is our priority. We also need American leadership with a tough G7 stance and support for our UN resolution.
