The Russia-Ukraine war has completed one year today. On 24 February 2022, Russia attacked Ukraine. Since then till now a fierce war is going on between the two countries. According to different reports, within a year, more than three lakh people have been killed on both sides.

 

Many big countries of the world including America are helping Ukraine in this war. In this series, the finance ministers of the G-7 countries on Thursday increased the financial aid from this group to $39 billion for Ukraine. Apart from this, the International Monetary Fund (IMF) has also called for a new financial package for this country by March to help it deal with the effect of Russia's attack.

 

What did G-7 say?

G-7 finance ministers and heads of central banks discussed the economic situation in Ukraine on the eve of the anniversary of the Russian invasion. Ukraine's Finance Minister Sergey Marchenko participated in this meeting through a digital medium. The G-7 finance ministers and heads of central banks are here to attend a G20 meeting. "We call on the IMF and Ukraine to put forth a credible, fully funded, viable IMF program by March," the G7 finance ministers said in a statement.

 

The G7, together with the international community, remains fully committed to meeting Ukraine's urgent short-term financial needs, the statement said. It added, "Based on the needs of the Government of Ukraine for 2023, we have increased our commitment to budget and economic cooperation to $39 billion." The G-7 includes France, Germany, Italy, Britain, Canada, Japan, and the United States.
