The month-long tussle between Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot and former Deputy Chief Minister Sachin Pilot was resolved with the direct intervention of the Gandhi family. Pilot shared his concerns with former Congress president Rahul Gandhi on Monday afternoon, in the evening the Congress high command announced the formation of a committee to voice their grievances. An agreement is believed to have been reached, stating that Pilot Group MLAs will not interfere in the Gehlot government and, in return, received assurances that no action would be taken on the rebels. Gehlot has the support of more than 100 MLAs in the 200-member assembly.
Sachin Pilot was removed from the post of Rajasthan Congress President and Deputy Chief Minister on 14 July. Also, two MLAs of the pilot faction were removed from their ministerial posts. According to a top Congress leader, the clear message from Sonia Gandhi was 'Don't let Sachin Pilot leave the party'. When Gehlot publicly attacked the pilot in private, he was instructed not to do so. Priyanka and Rahul Gandhi initially tried to explain the pilot a lot. Even after the negotiations ended, Priyanka was in touch with the pilot. The leader said that after many attempts, Rahul Gandhi met Sachin Pilot, and then his path was worked out.
While the Congress party stood with Gehlot on the instructions of the Gandhi family, efforts were also being made to address Sachin's grievances. Priyanka Gandhi was present at the Rahul-Sachin meeting, followed by Priyanka Gandhi, who met Ahmed Pilot, KC Venugopal, along with the Pilot faction MLAs on Monday evening and assured them of 'hearing'.
Pilot will get a big post at the national level
According to Congress party sources, in the coming days, the MLAs of the Sachin Pilot faction will be given important positions in the government and leaders will be given important responsibilities in the organization. The pilot will be given a major position at the national level in Congress. The important aspect is also that Congress President Sonia Gandhi will form a committee of three leaders which will look into the concerns and demands of Sachin and the rebel MLAs. The committee will look into the reasons why Sachin Pilot and his fellow legislators were ignored in the Gehlot government.
Will Avinash Pandey fall?
In the quarrel of Gehlot-Pilot, the General Secretary-in-charge of Rajasthan Avinash Pandey was also discussed. According to sources, in front of Priyanka Gandhi and Ahmed Patel, Sachin Pilot demanded the removal of in-charge Avinash Pandey. The pilot said that Avinash Pandey unilaterally supported Ashok Gehlot. According to a senior leader present at the meeting, Sachin was assured that his demand would be considered. Sources said that in the coming days, Pandey can be removed from Rajasthan and he can get the responsibility of another state.
