Meanwhile, a video of a woman inspector of Tamil Nadu Police is becoming increasingly viral on social media. The lady inspector is carrying an unconscious youth on her shoulder and taking him to the hospital.
This video has been shared by IAS Supriya Sahu on Twitter. He has said in the tweet that no one can have a stronger shoulder than Inspector Rajeshwari. During heavy rain, he took an unconscious person to the hospital in an auto.
The person who was carried by Rajeshwari on her shoulder is being named Udhaya. According to Rajeshwari, when she had gone out to know the situation in Chennai, she saw a man lying unconscious on the side of the road. With the help of people, they picked him up and immediately took him to the hospital. Udhaya's life was saved as she reached the hospital on time. Presently he is undergoing treatment in the hospital.
Red alert in 20 districts of Tamil Nadu
Due to heavy rains in Tamil Nadu, the Meteorological Department has issued a red alert in 20 districts. These districts include Chennai, Tiruvallur, Ranipet, Vellore, Salem, Kallakurichi, Tirupattur, and Tiruvannamalai. Out of these, one or two areas may receive more than 20.4 cm of rain, while other areas are also expected to receive heavy rains. Apart from Tamil Nadu, there is a warning of heavy to very heavy rain in Andhra Pradesh and Puducherry.
Roads jammed due to flooding
The power supply in south Chennai has been disrupted due to a fault in the electricity cable due to heavy rains in Chennai. Roads were flooded in Kodambakkam and Ashok Nagar areas. Roads have been blocked in many areas due to falling trees.
Rain forecast for next two days
According to the Meteorological Department, there is a possibility of rain in Tamil Nadu for the next two days. Due to this, all flights arriving at Chennai airport on Wednesday have been suspended.
