Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar is leaving for Delhi in a few hours to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi. On the 28th of last month, CM Nitish Kumar's Janata Dal United along with Bharatiya Janata Party formed the government in Bihar, declaring the return of the 2020 mandate. In this context, this will be a formal meeting of Nitish with the PM after the return of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government in the state.
Return of architect of opposition unity
In the 2020 Bihar Assembly election results, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar took command with the mandate to form the government with the BJP, but in between, he joined Lalu Prasad Yadav's party Rashtriya Janata Dal. A few months after becoming the Chief Minister of the grand alliance government with RJD, CM Nitish started mobilizing anti-BJP parties across the country against the central government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. On June 23, he organized the first meeting of opposition unity in Patna. He was being called the architect of opposition unity, but then suddenly, calling the circumstances of the grand alliance unusual, Nitish Kumar added colors to the BJP like a homecoming. The NDA government took oath in Bihar on 28 January.
Nitish is also JDU President, understands the meaning
Along with being the Chief Minister, Nitish Kumar is now formally the National President of JDU. Even before and after becoming JDU President, he was the most vocal about seat sharing in the Grand Alliance and Indi Alliance. After returning home ten days ago, as party president, he has not talked about seat sharing here. In such a situation, even though his meeting with PM Modi in Delhi on Wednesday will be a formality after government formation, the Lok Sabha elections, seat sharing in Bihar and the majority test to be held in Bihar Assembly on February 12 can be a point of discussion. Seats are also to be divided with the remaining constituent parties of NDA - both parts of Lok Janshakti Party, Jitan Ram Manjhi's party Hindustani Awam Morcha-Secular, Upendra Kushwaha's party Rashtriya Lok Janata Dal.
