Earlier, the summit meeting of the heads of state of the 10-member Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) began in Tianjin on Monday. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, along with other leaders of the organization, began a one-day discussion to decide the future direction of the group. Chinese President Xi Jinping welcomed the leaders. The 25th summit formally kicked off on Sunday night with a grand banquet hosted by Xi Jinping. It was attended by Prime Minister Modi and Russian President Vladimir Putin, among others.
