Gotabaya Rajapaksa resigned from the post on 14 July. Before resigning, he had fled to Singapore via the Maldives. After his resignation, a special session of Parliament was convened and his resignation sent from Singapore was read out.
Gotabaya was seen saving himself

During 2020 and 2021 I had to order a lockdown and the forex situation kept deteriorating.
Gotabaya had fled before resigning
