Sri Lanka is facing a historic crisis these days due to wrong economic policies and weak leadership. Inflation has also crossed its peak here. People are fascinated by grain. To make a living for the country, other countries have to look their face. Despite this, former Sri Lankan President Gotabaya Rajapaksa, who fled to Singapore, has blamed Corona and the lockdown for the poor condition of the country.

Gotabaya Rajapaksa resigned from the post on 14 July. Before resigning, he had fled to Singapore via the Maldives. After his resignation, a special session of Parliament was convened and his resignation sent from Singapore was read out.

Gotabaya was seen saving himself

Gotabaya Rajapaksa appeared to defend himself in his resignation. "I have served my motherland to the best of my ability and will continue to do so in the future also," he said. Rajapaksa said that he took excellent steps like trying to form an all-party government to counter the economic slowdown. Within three months of his becoming the President, the whole world was hit by the Kovid-19 pandemic. I tried my best to save people from the pandemic despite already being constrained by the bad economic environment. During 2020 and 2021 I had to order a lockdown and the forex situation kept deteriorating.

Gotabaya had fled before resigning

Gotabaya Rajapaksa was to submit his resignation on 13 July. However, he quietly fled to the Maldives in the morning. After this, he reached Singapore and sent his resignation from here. Ranil Wickremesinghe has been made acting President after Gotabaya's resignation.
