The situation in Sri Lanka is getting worse. The economy here has completely collapsed and there has been a severe shortage of many essential commodities including oil. Due to an acute shortage of petrol and diesel, people are getting oil filled by standing in queues for many days. Sri Lanka's young cricketer Chamika Karunaratne is also one of them. This player, who played the first match for his country in 2019, is troubled by the economic crisis of Sri Lanka.

In a conversation with news agency on Saturday, Karunaratne told that he has got the oil after standing in the queue for two days. Due to an acute shortage of fuel, he is unable to even go to his practice.

Talking about India, Karunaratne said that India is like an elder brother to Sri Lanka. He has helped us a lot. I want to thank India for this support. We know that we are going through a big crisis and India has helped us a lot. Our history with India is very deep. We are currently struggling. We thank you for everything India has done for us. We will get better with time.

Sri Lanka to host Asia Cup

Sri Lanka is to host the Asia Cup 2022 in August this year, but the economic crisis is spreading across the country. For the first time since independence, there has been such a shortage of oil in Sri Lanka. Even the cricket players troubled by the situation do not know what is going to happen next. Chamika Karunaratne told that on such an important day, he has come to fill the oil because the matches of the Lanka Premier League and two important series have been announced.

Karunaratne further said, "Asia Cup is coming up and Lanka Premier League is also to be held this year. I don't know what will happen, because I will have to go to Colombo and other places for practice as well as attend club sessions. Fuel up. I am not able to go to practice due to a shortage of money. For two days I could not go anywhere because I am standing in a long queue for petrol. Luckily I have filled 10 thousand rupees of oil, which is a maximum of two to three days. Will last for days."

Chamika says that she and her team are ready for the Asia Cup 2022, but she is currently worried about the current situation. "We are ready for the Asia Cup and I think the country will provide enough fuel for this big event. We are playing Australia and the match was good. Preparations are going on for the Asia Cup as well," he said.
