
Terrorists attacked a police station in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa's Dera Ismail Khan area with a gun and missile. No casualty was reported in Sunday's attack. Speaking to Dawn, Syed Yakub Shah said that the terrorists surrounded the Yarik police station at around 1 am and fired missiles at the building.
He said the police responded to the attack and a shootout broke out between the police force and the attackers. According to the spokesperson, the police station has been partially damaged. He further claimed that this was the first gun and missile attack on a police station in Dera Ismail Khan.
The attack comes at a time when Pakistan is witnessing a rise in terrorist attacks across the country.

Dawn quoted Pakistan's military media wing as saying that earlier on December 29, three Pakistani army officers were killed in an encounter with terrorists in the Aravali area of the Kurram district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
According to Dawn, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) in its statement identified the army officers who lost their lives as Subedar Shuja Muhammad, Naik Muhammad Ramzan, and Sepoy Abdul Rehman.
Firing between terrorists and security forces
Dawn quoted an ISPR statement as saying, 'On 29 Dec 22, an exchange of fire broke out between terrorists and security forces in the general area of Aravalli in Kurram district. Our soldiers fought bravely and effectively attacked the terrorists' hideout.
According to ISPR, arms and ammunition have been recovered from the slain terrorists. The ISPR said that the slain terrorists were actively involved in terror activities against the security forces.
Police personnel combed the area to eliminate any terrorists found in the area. According to the statement, the Pakistan Army is determined to eliminate the menace of terrorism.
