According to the report, HDFC Bank in Tamil Nadu made more than 100 of its customers rich for one day on Sunday. Rs 13-13 crore was deposited in every customer's account. As soon as the message came to the customers to put money on the mobile number linked to the bank account, they felt that they had won the lottery. But, when he checked his account, his happiness vanished. This feat of the country's second-largest bank went viral on sight and became the headlines of the news.
100 customers associated with the HDFC Bank branch in T. Nagar, Tamil Nadu received an SMS on their registered mobile number on Sunday. In this, he was told that Rs 13 crore has been deposited in his account. Such messages were received by all 100 customers i.e. Rs 1300 crore was transferred to the accounts. When one of these customers saw the message, in panic, informed the police about the matter. The police immediately contacted the bank officials, then the whole matter came to known.
It was told by the bank that due to a technical fault, such an SMS was mistakenly sent to the mobile number of the account holders. He said that a software patch was in process in this branch of HDFC and that led to the glitch. The report quoted an HDFC official as confirming that all this happened due to a technical problem in the bank's system. Neither the bank's system has been hacked nor has Rs 13-13 crore been deposited in the accounts of these customers. Only the message had reached him.
