The highest number of crimes in the country are recorded in UP; Most of the policemen were also killed in duty

After this whole incident, the law and order situation of Uttar Pradesh has once again been questioned. Former Chief Minister of the state Akhilesh Yadav tweeted and accused of complicity between the criminals and the government. At the same time, Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra also questioned the crime of UP by tweeting.

 

However, these are political things. However, data from government agencies also indicate that crime in UP is the highest in the country. Bhaskar tried to know about the level of crime in Uttar Pradesh through the data of the National Crime Records Bureau i.e. NCRB.

 

1. Crime: UP has the highest 11.5% of crimes in the country

The latest figures are available till 2018. According to NCRB data, in 2018 50 lakh 74 thousand 634 crimes were registered across the country. This figure was 1.3% higher than in 2017.

 

In this alone, 5 lakh 85 thousand 157 crime records were recorded in Uttar Pradesh alone this year. Accordingly, out of all the crime records recorded in the country in 2018, the maximum 11.5% cases were reported in UP alone.

 

2. Violent crime: UP is number 1 in violent crimes like rape-murder

Violent crime means crimes in which violence has taken place. Such as rape, attempted rape, murder, attempted murder, robbery, robbery, inciting a riot or violence and etcetera. UP is also on top of the country in such a violent crime.

 

In 2018, 4 lakh 28 thousand 134 violent crimes were registered across the country. Of this, 65 thousand 155 cases were registered in UP alone. That is, out of all the convictions recorded in the country, 15% were recorded in UP.

 

Not only this, there were 29 thousand 17 murders in the country in 2018, out of which 4 thousand 18 murders took place in UP. More than 1 lakh kidnapping took place, out of which more than 21 thousand kidnapping took place in UP. UP was also third in the rape case after Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan.

 

3. Crime against Dalits: UP is also on top here

Uttar Pradesh is also at the top in crimes against Scheduled Castes and Tribes. In 2018, 42 thousand 793 cases of crime were registered against Dalits across the country. Out of this, about 28% of cases were reported in Uttar Pradesh. This year, 11 thousand 924 cases of crime against Dalits were recorded in UP.

 

4. UP at number 11 in the case of minor criminals

In 2018, 31 thousand 591 minors entered the world of crime. Maximum 5 thousand 880 minors were from Maharashtra. The second place was Madhya Pradesh, where 5 thousand 232 were minors. Whereas, UP was at number 11 in this case. 1 thousand 48 minors became criminals here.

 

5. Crime against women: here too UP is on top

In 2018, 3 lakh 78 thousand 277 cases of crime were registered against women across the country. The maximum number of 59 thousand 445 cases were registered in UP alone. Out of the total number of reported cases of crime against women in the country in 2018, 15.7% of cases were reported in UP.

 

UP was third in rape cases. In 2018, a maximum of 5 thousand 433 cases of rape were registered in Madhya Pradesh followed by 4 thousand 335 cases in Rajasthan. Whereas, 3 thousand 946 cases were reported in UP.

 

Not only this, UP was number one in cases of attempted rape. There were 4 thousand 97 attempted rape cases across the country, out of which maximum 661 cases were registered in UP.

 

6. Crimes against children: UP's first number in this too

Uttar Pradesh is number one not only in crime against women but also in crime against children. NCRB data shows that from 2016 to 2018, UP was the first state in the country to have the highest number of crimes against children.

 

In 2018, 1 lakh 41 thousand 764 cases of crime were registered against children, out of which more than 14% were in UP alone. There were 19 thousand 936 cases in Uttar Pradesh this year.

 

7. Economic Offenses: UP also in this case

By giving people some kind of greed, making money, cheating, or cheating on someone else's property, such crimes are called economic offenses. Uttar Pradesh also tops in the case of economic crime. In 2018, 1 lakh 56 thousand 268 cases of economic crime were reported across the country. Of this, 22 thousand 822 cases were registered only in UP.

 

8. Cybercrime: Uttar Pradesh is also number one here

Crime done through computers or the internet is considered as cybercrime. The number of such crimes in the country is continuously increasing. In 2016, 12 thousand 317 cases of cybercrime were registered across the country, while in 2018, 27 thousand 248 cases.

 

Out of the total number of cybercrime cases reported in 2018, 23% of the cases were reported in Uttar Pradesh alone. In 2018, there were 6 thousand 280 cases of cybercrime in Uttar Pradesh.

9. How many arrests were made: Tamil Nadu has the highest number of arrests

In 2018, 55 lakh 08 thousand 190 people were arrested. Of these, 52 lakh 35 thousand 104 men and 2 lakh 73 thousand 86 women were arrested. Maximum 8 lakh 01 thousand 743 arrests were made in Tamil Nadu. After that 7 lakh, 12 thousand 215 people were arrested in Uttar Pradesh.

 

10. Conviction: Less than 6% of all the criminals tried in UP were punished

According to NCRB data, 4 lakh 27 thousand 175 cases were sent for trial in the courts of Uttar Pradesh in 2018. Out of this, only 24 thousand 215 people could be punished. Accordingly, out of all the cases that came up for trial, only 5.6% got punishment.

 

However, 9 thousand 815 people were released due to lack of evidence and 37 thousand 440 people were acquitted from the court.

 

11. Now the matter of policemen: UP's policemen lose their lives the most.

There has been talk of crime and criminals, but due to which this story has been prepared, now it should also be talked about. Uttar Pradesh also has the highest number of policemen who lost their lives on duty. In 2017, 93 policemen and 70 policemen died in 2018.

 

Of the 70 policemen who lost their lives in 2018, 20 died in an attempt to raid the house of a criminal or prevent any robbery. This year, 555 policemen were killed across the country.

 

Not only this, in 2018, 2 thousand 408 policemen were injured on duty across the country, out of which 174 policemen were from UP.
