The issue of the border with India echoed before the general elections in Nepal, also mentioned in the manifesto

General elections are near Nepal. In such a situation, political parties are putting their full strength. The biggest issue of elections remains the border with India. The parties have also released their respective manifestos. The two big parties in the race for power, the Communist Party of Nepal and the Nepal Prajatantra Party, have promised major changes in the constitution. At the same time, both parties have also included the issue of the border with India in their promises.

Left party chief KP Oli, along with the Maoist party, registered a major victory in the 2017 elections. The party had also chosen Dharchula to launch its election campaign. Nepal and India have a border in Dharchula. There is a dispute between the two countries in three places here. Nepal claims its territory in Lipulek, Limpiyadhura, and Kalapani.

In 2019, when Oli was the Prime Minister, he also approved the new map in Parliament. He is hopeful that he will also make the death of two youths an issue and will get the condolences of the local people here. He alleged that India had gotten both of them killed. Now Oli is claiming that talks had started with India on the border, but it came to a halt after he stepped down from his chair. On Tuesday, he released his manifesto, in which he said to take this conversation forward.

He has accused the Nepali Congress Party and its alliance of compromising with the national interest. Oli's foreign affairs advisor Rajan Bhattarai has accused Prime Minister Modi of not giving time to meet the people of Nepal so that the ties between the two countries can be strengthened. At the same time, the Maoist party included in its manifesto the model of formation of the cabinet under the authority of the acting President.
