
There is an atmosphere of panic among the people due to the uncontrollable corona epidemic (COVID-19) in the capital of Delhi. After receiving more than 4000 new cases of corona for the first time this year on Monday, the total number of infected patients here has crossed 14.58 lakhs. With this, now once again the positivity rate has increased to 6.46 percent. Today 1 more patient died due to a corona infection. After the increase in the infection rate, the possibilities of lockdown in Delhi have started gaining momentum.
According to the Health Bulletin issued by the Health Department on Monday, while 4,099 new corona patients have been found in the last 24 hours, after the death of one more patient, the total death toll has increased to 25,100. The infection was confirmed in 3,194 patients on Sunday.
According to the bulletin, today 1509 patients recovered completely and became corona free, whereas on Sunday this number was 1156. The Health Department said that so far the total number of infected in Delhi has gone up to 14,58,220 and 6,288 patients are in home isolation. Today, the active cases of corona in the capital have also increased to 10,986. At the same time, till now a total of 14,22,124 patients have become corona-free after beating this epidemic.
According to the Delhi Health Department, a total of 63,477 tests have been conducted in Delhi today. Of these, 57,813 were RTPR/ CBNAAT/ TrueNat tests and 5,664 were Rapid Antigen Tests. A total of 32,93,2684 tests have been conducted in Delhi so far and 17,33,299 tests have been done per 10 lakh people. With this, the number of containment zones in Delhi has also increased to 2008.
New report of genome sequencing confirms Omicron in 84% of samples: Jain
Delhi Health Minister Satyendar Jain said on Monday that 84 percent of the samples sent for genome sequencing recently in the capital Delhi have confirmed the new variant Omicron of the coronavirus. He said that though the daily cases are increasing in the city, the situation is under control as not many people are showing severe symptoms or need to be hospitalized. Jain said that some experts say that the cases will increase significantly in a week, but this is an estimate.
Jain told the Delhi Assembly that according to the genome sequencing report of December 30-31 from three laboratories, Omicron has been confirmed in 84 percent of the samples. Most of the cases were from Omicron. These three laboratories are the Institute of Liver and Biliary Sciences, Lok Nayak Jayaprakash Hospital, and the National Center for Disease Control.
