These days, North India is facing the brunt of intense heat. In many areas, the mercury has reached close to 50. The heat is also being seen in the capital Delhi. Meanwhile, Delhiites are also facing the problem of water. Due to the water crisis, people are facing problems in many areas of Delhi. The Delhi government has called an emergency meeting regarding the shortage of water. Atishi and Saurabh Bhardwaj will hold a meeting at noon. All senior officials including the Chief Secretary will be present in the meeting. Water is being supplied to the people in Delhi through tankers. People say that where there is a need for two water tankers, one tanker is being sent and that too is half.
Vinay, who lives in Delhi, said that water tankers come every day but people do not get water because only half a tanker comes, while two tankers are needed. Despite the scorching heat, there is no water in the houses. No one is listening to us.
Jyoti Mishra, a resident of Najafgarh, said that the routine had been disrupted due to lack of water. Earlier, the water supply was limited, but somehow we were managed. At present, water is coming once a day. The situation is such that we have to survive by asking for water from our neighbors. We went to the administration many times regarding the water problem but got nothing except assurances.
Durga, a resident of Nangli Dairy, said that due to lack of water, household works are stopped. We have booked a tanker, but the water board has given us time after a week. Due to this, we are forced to drink boring water. There are small children in the house, which is causing more problems. Rohit Rawat, who lives in Sarojini Nagar, said that dirty water is coming in the morning.
Surviving with bottled water
Poonam said that we have to survive by asking for 5-6 buckets of water from our neighbors every day. Now we will get boring done for the drinking water option. At the same time, when there is no water in the house, people survive by buying bottled water from outside. The situation is such that the water falling from the AC has to be used for household purposes.
