After the end of strict restrictions in China, the cases of corona are increasing once again. Two thousand patients were confirmed here on Sunday, but experts believe that this figure will increase further. Since the infection will spread more in winter, there is also a possibility of one million deaths next year.
Chances of spreading infection during holidays
Epidemiologist Wu Junyu told the BBC that the first of three possible waves is currently underway in China. After this, the second wave will come in the middle of January. At present, a week-long Lunar Year celebration goes on in the country, due to which lakhs of people come and go to the country. In such a situation, there may be an increase in the number of patients.
At the same time, the third wave may come between the end of February and March. At this time all the people return considering their holidays. In such a situation, more people can report the infection.
Millions of deaths estimated in 2023
Recently a report has been released about the deaths due to corona in China. America's 'Institute of Health Matrix and Evaluation' (IHMI) has estimated that by 2023, more than one million people will die due to corona in China. These projections have been made keeping in mind the situation after the lifting of COVID restrictions in China.
According to the report, there will be a peak of corona cases in China at the beginning of April. By that time the number of deaths is expected to reach 3 lakh 22 thousand. According to IHMI director Christopher Murray, by April one-third of China's population would have been infected with the coronavirus.
People are avoiding vaccination in China
China says that 90% of its population is fully vaccinated. That means they have got all the doses of the vaccine. But only about 50% of people above the age of 80 have been fully vaccinated. While they are most afraid of serious infection.
The main reason for this is people's lack of trust in the vaccine. Its side effects are visible in some, which demotivates the rest of the people to take the dosage. This is especially happening with the elderly. Such people say that instead of taking the vaccine, they would prefer to face the virus. Apart from this, the government has also not made vaccination compulsory.
