Agra, Feb 25 (IANS) Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav has announced an outlay of Rs.600 crores to modernise and broadbase Agra's drinking water facilities and pipeline network.
He made this announcement during the ongoing budget session of the state assembly in Lucknow Tuesday.
Yadav has also provided generous funds to develop cycle tracks for tourists. A sum of Rs.10 crore will be spent on the Kheria airport terminal, for which 55 acres of land is to be acquired in Dhanauli village.
For the ambitious Agra-Lucknow Expressway, the state government has earmarked a whopping Rs. 3,000 crores. The work on this project has already started.
The police control room and its elaborate network in the district will also be taken up for modernisation.
Although, Public Works Department (PWD) Minister Shiv Pal Yadav had last month announced that work on the Yamuna barrage downstream of the Taj Mahal would begin soon, no funds have been earmarked. And no funds have been sanctioned for the health sector though a few projects are in the pipeline.
