More than 27 lakh Covid-19 anti-vaccine supplements have been given till Sunday evening on the first day of 'Tika Utsav' in the country. With this, 104365035 doses of the vaccine have been given so far in the country. The Union Ministry of Health gave this information. The Covid-19 vaccination campaign running between 11-14 April in the country has been named 'Teeka Utsav'. On the other hand, at least 900 vaccination centers remained closed due to lack of dosages in Odisha, after which a series of accusations between the ruling Biju Janata Dal (BJD) and BJP started in the state.

Amidst growing cases of Covid-19, Prime Minister Narendra Modi in his talks with the Chief Ministers recently proposed a four-day 'Teeka Utsav' starting from Jyotiba Phule's birth anniversary to BR Ambedkar's birth anniversary. The ministry said that many workplace vaccination centers were operated on the first day of the nationwide Tika Utsav campaign. Due to Sunday, most of such centers were operated at private workplaces.

Operation of 45,000 vaccination centers

On average, 45,000 vaccination centers are operating in the country on any given day, the ministry said. But today 63,800 centers were operational and thus an average of 18,800 centers increased. At the same time, the number of vaccine doses on Sunday is low (about 16 lakhs). But till 27 o'clock on the first day of the festival, more than 27 lakh doses were given today.

Centers may close on Mondays

Vijay Panigrahi, director of the Department of Family Welfare in Odisha, said that out of 1,400 centers in the state, only 579 are under vaccination programs. If new doses are not introduced, immunization programs will have to be stopped in many places on Monday. Panigrahi said, "As of Saturday, there were 2,33,658 doses of Covishield in the state, while 77,960 doses of the Covaxin vaccine. After the completion of the vaccination this evening, we will be able to know what the real situation is. I think the entire stock will end today.
