The country has found another weapon to fight the epidemic amid Corona's record cases. The central government has also given emergency approval to the Russian Corona Vaccine Sputnik V. With this, now three Corona vaccines have arrived in the country. Covishield and Bharat Biotech-ICMR vaccine Covaxin, prepared by AstraZeneca and Oxford University in the country, have already been approved and more than 100 million doses have been given to the public.

Hyderabad-based pharmaceutical company Dr. Reddy's Laboratories last week sought approval from the Indian government for Sputnik V. The Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF) partnered with Dr. Reddy's in September 2020 for clinical trials in India. 9.1.6% of the Russian vaccine is effective and Phase 3 clinical trials are underway in the UAE, India, Venezuela, and Belarus.

In addition to Dr. Reddy's, RDIF had signed an agreement with Virchow Biotech Pvt Ltd in India to produce 20 crore doses per year. It has partnered with Stellis Biopharma Pvt Ltd and Pansia Biotech to produce 20 and 100 million doses.

The Russian vaccine has been approved at a time when the country has seen the highest number of 1,68,912 corona cases so far and the total number of infected has risen to 1,35,27,717. Amid the Teeka festival being celebrated from April 11 to 14, many states are alleging a shortage of corona vaccines.

Of the 904 people who died in the last 24 hours, 349 people have died in Maharashtra, 122 people in Chhattisgarh, 67 people in Uttar Pradesh, 59 people in Punjab, 54 people in Gujarat, 48 people have died in Delhi. A total of 1,70,179 people have died in the country so far due to infection.
