New Delhi, Jan 29 (IANS) The woman executive who was allegedly raped by Uber taxi driver identified the accused at a court where she had gone to record her statement in December last year, the case's investigation officer Thursday told a court where the trial is underway.
Testifying as a prosecution witness in the case, woman Sub Inspector Renu told Additional Sessions Judge Kaveri Baweja that victim has identified the accused Shiv Kumar Yadav Dec 8 last year outside the court room.
Describing the encounter between victim and accused, she told the court that after Metropolitan Magistrate Ambika Singh granted police three days custody of Yadav, she was coming out from the court room with the accused when the victim crossed their path.
"In the meantime, the victim came there and identified the accused Yadav as the rapist," she said.
The incident took place at the Tis Hazari court, when the victim went to record her statement before Metropolitan Magistrate Riya Guha in court room No.247, while Yadav was coming out from court room No.264 presided over by Metropolitan Magistrate Ambika Singh.
Yadav was arrested Dec 7 and was brought before the court with his face covered Dec 8. He had refused to undergo a test identification parade. When he was coming out of the court room, he removed the muffler, saying he was feeling suffocated.
The woman, who was at the same time coming out from another court room, spotted him and identified him.
Renu further added that she has conducted investigation in the matter, collected samples and sent it to forensic lab and inspected the spot, where the alleged crime took place.
The trial in the rape case is being conducted on a day-to-day basis and will be continued Friday.
The court Jan 13 framed charges of rape and causing grievous bodily harm or endangering the life of a woman, kidnapping a woman, criminal intimidation and voluntarily causing hurt under various sections of the Indian Penal Code against Yadav.
