After Mamata Banerjee, now Congress has also demanded the removal of GST from essential medical devices. The Congress on Wednesday accused the Center of being a disaster-prone government and said that it should exempt the medical devices required to deal with the Corona epidemic by performing Good Rajdharma from the purview of Goods and Services Tax (GST).

Congress spokesperson Gaurav Vallabh also claimed that if GST is removed from vaccines, oxygen concentrators, and Remedisvir injection, the public and state governments would get an annual benefit of Rs 6000 crore. He told reporters, GST is being levied on the vaccine at five percent. This government is levying a GST of 12 percent on Ramidecivir injection and 12 percent on oxygen concentrator. GST of 12 percent is also being levied on ventilators, medical oxygen, and 28 percent on ambulances.

Vallabh said this government is a government with opportunity in disaster. I want to tell the government that he did not become so ruthless. She talks of spreading positivity but is levying GST. Did the people of the country sin by believing in you (government) that you are dealing with them?

The country will benefit from the removal of GST: Congress

He claimed, if the GST is removed from vaccines, remdesivir injection, oxygen concentrator, the people of the country will get a profit of Rs 6000 crore. From these 6000 crores, 12 lakh oxygen concentrators can be purchased. 200 million people can be vaccinated for this amount of money. With this much money, six new AIIMS can be opened. The Congress spokesperson urged the government, "The government should follow its rule and remove GST from essential medical equipment."

Finance Minister gave the answer

Earlier, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee had written a letter to the Prime Minister demanding the removal of GST from essential medical equipment. However, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman replied to Mamata's letter, saying that doing so would make goods more expensive. Many tweets were also made by the Finance Minister in this regard.
